Matthew Weinstein's collection is inspired by Chinese New Years decorations. By selecting elements from these disposable cardboard wall hangings, redrawing them, and having these drawings transformed into Tibetan rugs, Weinstein combines the ephemeral world of holiday decor with the indestructible medium of ancient hand-knotting. Matthew Weinstein is a visual artist who lives in New York. His interdisciplinary work combines the mediums of bronze, painting and 3-D animation. He exhibits his work at the Sonnabend Gallery in NY, The Baldwin Gallery in Aspen, Colorado, and has shown widely in museums and galleries in the USA, Europe and South America. |
